Our must-haves for a guilt-free escape

Our small team is made up of huge outdoor lovers and adventurers. While this can definitely have an impact on our product development, the opposite is also true. A number of KLIIN products have influenced their routines while camping and prepping for road trips, and have also changed how they look after their sports equipment—both in winter and in summer! Our president, Marie-Pierre, and our sales & marketing coordinator, Frédérique, share their favorite products for getting out and about without harming the planet!

MARIE-PIERRE'S TIPS

Getting ready for a trip already requires quite a bit of organization and planning, especially with children. Marie-Pierre has two main goals when preparing for a new adventure: minimize the cleaning equipment she has to pack in her luggage, and make sure to minimize her waste once she gets there. She recalls instances when her clean-up efforts while camping were far from glamorous:

"There have been times I’ve opened up a bin to find the dishwashing liquid had leaked all over everything. Or I was ready to pack up my dish towels, but they hadn’t dried from the washing up I did the night before. Or I had to spread things between two bags, and stick stuff under the seat or in other parts of the car because there was simply no more room.”

She admits that she prefers to travel light! That's why she focuses on the efficiency, simplicity, and versatility of the products she packs. It gives her a clear conscience to know that she’s minimizing her impact away from home—and that she’s doing so without overloading her luggage.

Dishwashing paste
Takes up very little space in your luggage and you only need a little bit at a time. Plus, it’s super versatile. Why lug around several products when you can do everything with just one? Another plus: it’s biodegradable!

Perfect for longer trips in a RV, bio-pods can easily fit into small spaces. Bring a bottle along with a couple of bio-pods and you’re done

Laundry sheets
“Sooo simple, and super compact! Think about it: you just drop half a sheet in a tub full of soapy water! An extremely simple solution to avoid having to decant your home laundry detergent into another plastic container or paying too much for whatever’s available at the laundromat.”

Reusable cleaning cloths
Peak simplicity and efficiency. They’re super durable and useful for many tasks. You can wash the dishes, use them to wipe off your tent tarp, your paddleboards, or your kayak, and they can even serve as washcloths for the kids! We suggest bringing along a few of them, preferably one for each kind of use. And since they’re compostable, they’ll disappear within a month if you happen to leave them behind on the site. That’s reassuring!

FRÉDÉRIQUE'S ESSENTIALS

Someone who already had a set packing list, she ended up discovering new camping essentials thanks to KLIIN. “It sounds cliché, but it created a need for me. How could I have gone without ‘basics’ like KLIIN, Twist & KLIIN bio-pods, and the wonderful dishwashing paste for so many years? Ha, and I forgot the laundry detergent!”
